Juliet G Smith

Juliet Grace Smith, daughter of Christopher and Jessica Smith of Arlington VA, was born 3 ½ months early at 6:37pm on Thursday, July 8th, 2010. She weighed 1 lb, 14 oz and was 13 inches long. Her family was on vacation in the Outer Banks, NC when she decided she was ready to make her grand entrance. Her mother was airlifted courtesy of Dare County (NC) Fire and Rescue from OBX to Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters in Norfolk, VA. Juliet spent her first 6 weeks 200 miles from home at CHKD’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) before Georgetown University Hospital dispatched their helicopter to bring Juliet to Washington, within 5 miles of her home in Arlington. She remained at Georgetown Hospital for the entirety of her life.
Juliet’s interests included being held, staring at pictures of her sisters, snuggling with her cow blankie, wiggling, confounding doctors, and closing her eyes during photo sessions. She also liked to be read books, listen to songs such as “Daisy, Daisy”, and support Manchester United. At the age of 6 months and 1 day, Juliet died in the arms of her mom and dad at approximately 3:15 am on Sunday, January 9th, 2011 at Georgetown University Hospital. Juliet is survived by her parents; big sisters Addison and Mackenzie; grandparents Bill & Patty Pequignot of Harrisonburg, VA, Angi Smith of Port Washington, NY, and Al Smith of Rockledge, FL; great-grandparents Ruth Pequignot of Harrisonburg, Roseann Lubold of Indiana, PA, and Dick & Joan Lubold of Davidson, NC; and more than 50 aunts, uncles, and cousins.
