Kimberly Burghardt Sutter, age 51, of Arlington, VA., died suddenly but peacefully in the early morning of September 23, 2018 after a brief battle with Stage IV pancreatic cancer. She was the adored wife of Michael Sutter and devoted mother of her two beloved children, Katharine and Nicholas. Cherished daughter of George and Nancy Burghardt and sister Jennifer, she is also survived by a host of relatives, friends, and colleagues, near and far.
Born on September 21, 1967 in Del Rio, TX and raised in Coral Springs, FL, Kim knew from an early age she wanted to help people through difficult times. She pursued her calling by obtaining a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. After serving as Director of Counseling Services at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine, Kim moved to Washington D.C. where she practiced as a Clinical Psychologist for over 20 years. Recognized as a Top Therapist by Washingtonian Magazine, Kim was an IADEP-Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and adjunct faculty at Georgetown University. She loved her work and her clients deeply and earnestly.
A funeral service will take place at 2pm on Monday, October 8, 2018 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Arlington, Va., where she and her family have been active members for 10 years. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of the following organizations:
