Laszlo Francesco Hary, age 64, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on November 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife Elisabetta and by his loving family. He was born to Laszlo B. and Nicoletta (Mattioli) Hary on October 4, 1954 in South Bend, Indiana. Laszlo grew up in Dayton, Ohio and was a member of St. Helen Parish. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant nephew, Christopher Dent. To mourn his passing, Laszlo leaves his beloved wife of 25 years, Elisabetta whom he met in Italy (it was love at first sight). They married after three months and moved to the US. He also leaves sister Maria (John) Dent, sister Francesca, and brother Stephen (Amy) and nephews and nieces, Andrew Dent, Alex Dent, Katie Hettinger, Elizabeth Hary, Shay Hary, Kai Hary, Kyle Agarwal, Sophia Hary, Kiah Hary and grandniece Nicoletta Hettinger, as well as many caring in-laws, good friends and his dear colleagues. Thanks to the example set by his parents, Laszlo enjoyed traveling the world for his work in environmental compliance. He was fortunate to have his wife join him on trips to South America, China and Europe. His happiest memories were of the time they spent in Umbria and Sperlonga, Italy after they married. Laszlo very much appreciated Elisabetta’s talent in the kitchen. They both loved to entertain family and friends and no one left their home hungry. He loved dogs and had great affection for their three cats. Laszlo was very proud of his family’s Italian–Hungarian heritage and was fluent in Italian and English. He graduated from Carroll High School (Dayton) and from the University of Dayton. He followed in the steps of his father and earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and continued his education by earning a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Ohio University. He also earned Professional Engineer certifications in several states. Laszlo was a generous and fun loving son, brother, uncle, and devoted husband. He leaves a legacy of family loyalty and faith. Visitation will be held at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA, November 16, 5 – 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on November 17 at The Cathedral of St. Thomas More, Arlington, VA. Final resting place is Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, OH. In lieu of flowers, Laszlo wished for donations to be made to the Laszlo F. Hary Scholarship, Carroll High School, 4524 Linden Ave. Dayton, OH 45432. You will always be our “capo famiglia”.
