Born in Danbury, Connecticut on February 3rd, 1981, Leith lived a full life - full of love, family, adventure and traveling, enjoying the arts, good food and chess, among many other joys. He graduated from Danbury High School in 1999, from Carnegie Mellon University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, and worked at Capital One in Virginia for many years, most recently as a Product Manager.
The beloved and loving husband and partner to Erica Deadman for over a decade, they built a beautiful life together in Washington, D.C. Ballet, theater, and other performing arts were a shared joy, as was travel to Europe and other destinations. Trips to visit their extended family in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin were always another source of joy and love.
A passionate chess player, Leith joined and later took over leadership of a social chess club in D.C., Chess on Tap. He created a community that has persevered for over eight years, welcoming new and veteran players to learn from each other and enjoy time together. Leith also had a brilliant mind and was a lifelong learner, who read widely and enjoyed discussing both old philosophies and new ideas with his friends and family. Leith enjoyed cooking and appreciated the finer nuances of good food and drink, always sampling new cuisines or trying a new dish. He and Erica loved walking together in D.C., taking in the surroundings and enjoying parks and farmers’ markets.
Leith is survived by his wife Erica Deadman, mother Nancy Weston, sister Shanna Weston and brother-in-law Joshua Ruminski, parents-in-law Charles and Jacque Deadman, sister-in-law Amanda (Deadman) Genung and brother-in-law Justin Genung, and brother-in-law Charlie Deadman, as well as beloved nieces/nephew Annadelia Ruminski, Lailah Ruminski, Ana Wesoloski, Vivian Genung, Quinn Genung, and Mason Genung. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Weston III.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Murphy Funeral Homes, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA. A Celebration of Life will take place immediately following the visitation, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM, at the same location. Friends and family are invited to participate remotely if unable to attend in person.
Leith’s kindness, humor, dedication to family, community-building, and love of life will continue on in the hearts of all who knew him. Our deep grief at his premature passing will be tempered with the blessing of many memories and impacts he made on all who loved and met him. Leith and his life will never be forgotten by those whose lives he touched.
