I have thought a lot about Dr. Fay over the years and wanted to express my sincere condolences, because she saved my life. I was a patient of doctor Fay while I was in graduate school in 2007-8 and went to Georgetown for what I thought was a stomach ulcer. She checked me over and insisted I get checked out for appendicitis. I went straight to radiology, where literally every other doctor insisted I couldn't have appendicitis and suggested I go home. But I thought about what Dr. Fay had said and stuck to my guns and got scanned. Sure enough, it was acute appendicitis, so far along that it was really about to rupture. I was taken right in to surgery and treated successfully. I know enough about what could've happened if I'd visited someone less observant and sharp and caring, and I thank God I went to Dr. Fay. Eight years later, I'm married and I have a little girl, and I still think about it all. I regret I never had the chance to thank Dr. Fay, but she and her family remain in my prayers.

I was a patient of Dr. Fay's about 20 years ago in Arlington, VA. She was actually both my and my son's doctor. I always looked forward to our visits and remembered her for something she told me when I was a young/new mother and my son was just about 2 yrs old. I need to paraphrase here, but the gist of what she said was that he is very, very smart and he can either be a doctor or a mad scientist, it'll all depend on how you raise him." I never, ever forgot that and I have thought about her many times over the years. I looked her up online today with the intention of reaching out to her and thanking her for reminding me of how crucial it was that I steer my son in the best direction and to also tell her that he graduates from college this Friday. I was very saddened to see that she passed away in 2013 and I know she is sorely missed. To the family, I am very sorry for your loss. Dr. Fay was a wonderful and thorough physician with a kind heart and I have never forgotten her. Please accept my condolences as well as my sincere appreciation for your loved one.

I'm a rather distant, almost-cousin of Linda's. She and I had corresponded several times via Ancestry.com about our common relatives. I was surprised and sad to learn of her passing.

I was a not-quite distant cousin of Lee's. She and I had been corresponding here and there about our common family, the Joslins. She seemed very nice and I had hoped to meet her one day in person. I was so sorry to hear of her passing and extend my sincerest condolences to her family and friends.

Linda (and Derek, who was just a child then) inspired and blessed all of us in our medical school Christian fellowship. I'm sorry to be so late in leaving a message as I just read about Linda's passing in the Harvard Medical alumni bulletin. Thank you for taking the time to notify them. Please accept my sympathies. Lee was such an amazing person, such intelligence and determination combined with warmth and congeniality. Over all the many years we have known her, we grew to love and admire her more and more. We will miss her immensely ... not least at our New Year's Day celebration, which over the years she never missed and where she was always a bright spot. Our love and sympathy to you, Art. Dear Art and family
I was very saddened to hear of Linda's sudden passing. As you know, we go back 30 years, to her time in residency training, and her practice and teaching time at Georgetown University Medical Center afterwards. I will always remember her cheerful attitude and wonderful, sparkly smile. We'll be out of town during the service, but our thoughts are with you. Jay Siwek, MD, on behalf of the Georgetown University Hospital Department of Family Medicine.
