Lucy Ellen Antone died from complications of a stroke on September 15, 2018, near her hometown of Annandale, VA, at the age of 67. Lucy was the third of six siblings. She is survived by her siblings (in birth order) and in-laws: Eva Antone Ross (Stephen) of El Paso, TX, Margie Antone-Warren (Curt) of Livingston, MT, Felix Thomas Antone of Kingwood, TX, Suzanne Antone of Benicia, CA, and Joseph Antone (Cynthia) of Kennesaw, GA. Her seven nephews and nieces are: Jamey (Jessica) Warren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Warren-Ryan, Michael Ross, Sheena Beeson, Liana Beeson, Mattie Antone and Logan Antone. She delighted in her two great-nieces: Piper Warren and Kaili Warren-Ryan. She had three El Paso-born cousins: Leslie (Steve) Antone-Wilder, Teri (Gary) Antone-Paradiso and Jack (Peggy) Lee. She enjoyed and cultivated connections to other relatives. She added many others in her life as extended family, notably - among many - are Tom and Cindy Fields of Annandale, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix Arthur and Mary Bernadine Antone, and her husband, Alfred David “Dave” Valley. Lucy was born on October 16, 1950 in El Paso, TX. Lucy made high school friends at both Coronado and Loretto Academy from which she graduated in 1968. She graduated with honors from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in English. Lucy retired in June, 2015, from the Office of Personnel Management after spending 42 years in service to the country as a human capital specialist with government agencies in El Paso, Dallas, TX, and Washington, DC. She took her service seriously and was involved in setting national policy to promote equal opportunity and compliant legal protection for citizens in all agencies employing government workers. She married Dave Valley, an information technology specialist, in Washington, DC.in 1995. Lucy had a unique style as an accomplished watercolor artist. She often created work to give to others for special occasions. She also loved singing and country western music and dancing. She enjoyed gambling, especially on slot machines. She was a generous individual who mentored many persons to take actions to improve their lives and careers. Funeral services in Virginia were handled by the Murphy Funeral Home, Falls Church, VA. A rosary and visitation was held on September 19. A funeral Mass was offered, September 20 at St. Philip Catholic Church in Falls Church, VA. Hillcrest Funeral Home will handle El Paso arrangements. A prayer and visitation service will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, at the Hillcrest Funeral Home at 5054 Doniphan Dr., in El Paso, TX. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at the Loretto Academy Chapel, 1300 Hardaway St. in El Paso, TX, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Rd.,Santa Teresa, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests three options for donating in memory of Lucy. You may give to the Alzheimer Association of Atlanta, GA, honoring Lucy’s sister-in-law, Cynthia Griffee-Antone, through Lucy’s second brother, Joseph Antone’s Facebook fundraiser page “Joseph is Walking to End Alzheimer's!” Start at https://www.facebook.com/donate/2186372094914114/.
