

Margaret E. Hendrick, on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 of Alexandria, VA. She was born and raised in South Carolina and graduated from the Palmetto School of Aeronautics. In Columbia, South Carolina, during World War II, she inspected airplanes for the Army Air Corps. Later, she worked for National Air Lines in Jacksonville, Florida. She married Naval Aviator, William ‘Skip’ Hendrick, also of South Carolina. After retiring from 28 years of service in the U.S. Navy, Skip worked at George Washington University as supervisor of the Physical Plant Department. He died 25 years ago. As a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington, Margaret was very active in social and charity work. She is survived by her three sons, William, Charles and James, a sister, Ramona Steele and seven grandchildren. Friends may call at Murphy Funeral Home of Arlington, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, January 17, 2013. A service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 3313 Arlington Blvd., Arlington, VA at 11 am on Friday, January 18, 2013. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Goodwin House Foundation, 4800 Filmore Ave., Alexanadria, VA 22311 and/or the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society, 875 N.
