Marta Menes Fernandez was born in Calimete, Cuba on January 11, 1935 and passed away in Arlington, VA on August 12, 2021 surrounded by her family. Marta is preceded in death by her husband, Tomas R. Fernandez; beloved sister-in-law, Dulce Elena Fernandez; and two half brothers, Humberto and Jorge Menes.
Marta is survived by her daughters, Marta Fernandez, Vivian Fernandez and Lily Griffin; sister, Mirtha Menes Figueroa; son-in-law Thomas Griffin; and three grandchildren, Stephanie, Emily, and Ryan Griffin.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 19 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Murphy Funeral of Arlington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church on Friday, August 20 at 11:00 AM with a graveside service Columbia Gardens Cemetery immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area.
