With great sadness we announce that Mary Louise Arason died in her sleep on April 24, 2018. Born in 1923 the second of five daughters to Sadie and Bjorn Oddsson, Mary graduated from Washington Lee High School and the Washington School for Secretaries. Before stopping to raise her four children Mary worked as an executive secretary for the Federal Reserve and World Bank. She was married to Jacob Arason, who died in 1988. Mary grew up in Arlington and after four years in Ottawa, Canada and thirty years on a farm in Atkins, Va. returned to Arlington. Mary is survived by her daughter Sally; daughter Ann Heidig (husband Bill Hiedig and children Jeff, Michael, Eric and Stacey); son Jon and wife Jane, granddaughter Carey and sisters Lois and Odie. A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at 3313 Arlington Blvd. on May 7 as 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please send donations to ‘Smile Train’.
