Mary Ellen was an honorary West Virginian.  She traveled with us enjoying festivals, shows, and dinners at Adaland.  She also gave us two trees for our new home.  She moved them from her patio to WV and we planted them on the property.  Several years ago she sat under the 50 foot tree enjoying the shade.  The trees are a testament of her good will and excellent gardening skills.  We will miss her.  G&P

Grandmom taught me the name and details of every plant she knew, and how to care for and love them. She taught me that even decades ago it was cool for women to like math, chemistry, and computer programming. Gave me an aspiration to travel and see all the art I learned about in college (tons of which she'd seen in person). How to properly set a table including the fiddly bits no one uses anymore, and that a lady never eats with her elbows on the table. That sometimes all you need is a chapter of a book, afternoon tea, and some quiet time. The only pie crust recipe I'll ever use. My impossibly tiny feet and unbalanced figure- and I hope, half her brains.

Rest well Grandmom. We love you.

Our condolences go out to Mary Ellen's family.  She and her husband Robert were our neighbors for many years.  May light perpetual shine upon this lovely lady.
