The son of Herbert Hern Morrison and Pearl Gray Morrison (Nash), Quinn was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, on June 15, 1931. He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 wonderful years, Celia Jean Morrison (Ayers); his three sons, Stacy Quinn (Brenda), Blake Beasley (Betty), and Gregg Montgomery (Jane); seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Quinn graduated from Lynchburg College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Shortly thereafter, he married his high school sweetheart, enlisted in the US Navy, and embarked on a lifetime of service and adventure. Committed to lifelong learning, he later earned a master’s degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!).
During his distinguished 29-year naval career, Quinn served as the Department Head Supply Corp Officer on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11) for two deployments during the Vietnam War, and as the Supply Officer on multiple other ships. He later worked in logistics and management information systems, holding key leadership roles at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). For his meritorious service, he was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the Vietnamese Navy Distinguished Service Order Medal.
Following his retirement from the Navy, Quinn continued his career as a Director and Vice President with several defense contractors in the Washington, D.C. area. Upon his final retirement, he spent 15 years working part-time with H&R Block—fondly referring to it as his "charity work" because he so thoroughly enjoyed helping people and keeping his mind sharp.
For the past 13 years, Quinn and Celia resided at Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, Virginia. Together, they traveled the world, but they especially cherished visiting their sons and growing families. Known affectionately as "Papa" to his grandchildren, Quinn loved photography, watching sports, and sailing the seas. He will be remembered always as a loyal, hardworking patriot, and a deeply loving and dedicated husband and father.
Quinn will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
