

Richard Larry Belknap, 64, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at his home in Arlington, VA. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on June 14, 1945.Rick is survived by his wife Georgianne Belknap, two sons, Richard, Jr., Gregory Belknap and their mother, Barbara Lee Belknap; two sisters Judith Conrad and Jacqueline Miller; one brother, David Conrad; four grandchildren, Richard Brandon, David Alan, Jessica and Brittany Belknap; and his mother, Arlene Holman. Rick is pre-deceased by his brother, Donnie Conrad, his sister, Connie Scott and his father, John Byron Belknap. Rick served in the United States Army with a 3 year tour of duty during the Vietnam War. He was an avid motorcyclist and participated in the Rolling Thunder Memorial Day weekend Ride for Freedom in honor of our veterans from 2003 through 2007 on his 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King. Rick was an avid hiker, bicyclist, basketball and racquetball player. Rick retired after 20 years from Cadmus (formerly Byrd Press) and founded Capital Express, a successful courier service. For more than 10 years he made sure his business always operated on a positive bottom line. Not content to be idle, Rick worked as a bus driver for Arlington County Public Schools for the past 12 years. He loved and was well loved by his students at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, Yorktown High School and Gunston Middle School. Rick attributed his success as a bus driver to listening and treating students with respect.
