Of Lake Barcroft, VA, died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 13, 2013. He was the loving husband of 47 years of Mary Anne Hardy and the father of eight children, including daughters, Mary Kate Tillman and Anne Marie Harris, and sons, Robert, Kevin, Michael, David, Timothy and Richard Hardy. He is the grandfather of 11 grandchildren, and the brother of Susan Hardy and Donald Hardy. Richard was a 1962 graduate of USNA, a veteran of the U.S. Navy Destroyer Service, an electrical engineer at IBM for 39 years, and a community volunteer with ACCA and Lake Barcroft Community. Friends may call to Murphy Funeral Home of Arlington, 4510 Wilson Blvd, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 17. A rosary service will be said at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3305 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, VA 22041, on Friday January 18 at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Fairfax Memorial Park.
