

Richard Manning Hoffman of Arlington, VA died peacefully at Northern Virginia Hospital Center on November 7, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He suffered many years with Alzheimer’s. He was a fourth generation Washingtonian born on September 1, 1931 to Hilda and Buff Hoffman.
After college and two years in the army, he joined the family insurance business, Howard & Hoffman, Inc. There he met Karen to whom he was married for almost 52 years. He served as secretary and past president of the Arlington Rotary Club. He was a very enthusiastic member of Washington Golf & Country Club, where he chaired the Millennium New Year’s Eve gala.
Beside his adoring wife, he is survived by daughter Holly and son-in-law Trey McStravick, brother William Hoffman (Karla), nieces Susan and Blair and nephews Scott and Willie.
He had an outrageous sense of humor also a huge, kind heart. He will be greatly missed.
Because he was such a happy person, please wear happy clothes to the service.
Friends may call Thursday November 13th from 4-6 at Murphy’s Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA. Funeral service November 14, 2014 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 2609 N. Glebe Rd., Arlington, VA 22207. Burial private. Donations to Northern Virginia Hospital Center or St. Mary’s Church.
