Ruth B. Howell of Annandale, VA passed away peacefully on April 30, 2022 at the age of 90. Widow of Col. Leamon (Pete) Howell (Ret.), Ruth is survived by her two daughters, son, and five grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.
She had a trailblazing, busy career as a college science professor, after receiving her BA from Bryn Mawr College, an MA in Biology from the University of Florida, and extensive PhD studies at Tulane University, while raising three children and traveling the world as an Army wife. Upon retirement from the military, Ruth and Pete began successful second careers in real estate in Northern Virginia that lasted 30 years.
Memorial and Internment at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
