

Sharon A. Singh passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2026, at the age of 71 surrounded by her family. Sharon was born in Georgetown, Guyana where she resided until she left to pursue advanced studies in England. She held degrees from Southbank London Polytechnic University, London School of Economics and Georgetown University. She served as a barrister in the British courts and later emigrated to the United States where she began her legal career in immigration cases. Sharon later went on to enjoy a thirty-year career as a Family Law Attorney for the District of Columbia. Sharon’s professional career was centered around advocating for children in the areas of abuse, neglect and adoptions. She will be fondly remembered for the countless families and lives she touched.
Sharon is predeceased by her parents, Boodhan and Olga Singh; her siblings, Nita Singh, Rudolph Singh, Cecil Singh, Chandra Hardy, Elizabeth Parris and Janet Singh. She is survived by five siblings: Leila Davis, Harry Singh, June-Ann Hu-A-Kam, Pamela Fawcett, David Singh), their loving families, including numerous nieces and nephews. Though she did not have biological children of her own, she was a mother-figure to many, especially Michael Parris, Jr., Suzanne Parris and Chirstopher Parris; J. David Goodart; and their children, Arya Parris, Lilavati Parris and Jada Goodart.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church on Thursday, October 15, at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Sharon may be directed to So Others Might Eat (SOME) a local non-profit that she and her family loyally supported.
