

Sherman Chin, a resident of Arlington, age 91. A native of Washington, D.C., he was born in Washington, D.C. to Lee Sing Yat (Chin Ying Hong) and Lee Ngon Win Chin. He graduated from Western High School and American University in 1958, received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry.
Upon graduation from American University, Sherman taught biology at Woodrow Wilson High School. He then went on to work at the National Institute of Health. He also taught Sunday School at the Chinese Community Church, Washington, D.C. Finally managing the family restaurant Kung Gen.
Sherman Chin married Donna Matula in 1985, with whom he had two sons, who survive him: Jason Michael Chin and Michael John Chin. He was first married to Doris Wong, with whom he had three children, who survive him: Stefania (Stephanie) Michelle Chin, Stephen Michael Chin and Sherman Michael Chin (Winnie). He also leaves behind grandchildren Marcos B. Calubaquib (Alaina), Marisa S. C. Wilson (Brian) and Samantha I. Chin. He also leaves behind great grandchildren Tai Calubaquib, Indio Calubaquib and Macklin E.W. Wilson; his sisters Mary Chin Lee and her family and Elizabeth Chin Wong and her family; and numerous other loving relatives.
Sherman served in the U.S. Air Force August 9, 1951 to August 8, 1955. He was awarded national defense service medal & good conduct medal. He loved his family, basketball, Chinese Community Church, Washington, D.C., coaching Michael John at every stage of youth baseball, later even becoming the head coach of the Wakefield Junior Varsity team and hearing about Tai’s little league team. Memorial contributions may be made to an animal welfare organization or environmental conservation organization of your choice. Memorial services will be announced later.
