

Stevan Patrick Hynson, 70, of Manassas, Virginia, died on January 14, 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Alexandria, Va. on July 29, 1944, he was the younger son of John T. Hynson and Mary F. Hynson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Frances Joann Benson and Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Lynch, and his brother, Jon Michael “Mike” Hynson. Survivors include his daughter, Heather Nelson (Eric) of Springfield, Va; grandsons, Tyler Nelson (Angel) of Jacksonville, Fl, Brett Nelson, Jacob Nelson, and Caden Nelson, all of Springfield, Va; great-granddaughter Rose Nelson; sister, Mina Croson (Dave), of Manassas, Va; numerous nephews and nieces; and a host of friends.
Steve served his country in the Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968. In 1972, Steve began his career as a firefighter with Arlington County and served until his retirement as a Captain in 1998.
There will be a memorial gathering at Murphy Funeral Home at 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Va 22203 on January 27, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm,
followed by a funeral at Quantico National Cemetery on January 28, 2015 at 11:00 am.
