Terry leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 58 years, Mary Ellen; children, Nancy, Edward (Amanda), Catherine (Charles), Siobhan (Matthew), and Meghan; and his grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Rachael, Michael, Emily, Ellen, Laura, Luke, Abigail, James and Ryan.
Terry was born in Michigan in 1941 to Margaret Mary VanderBrook and Donald Blodgett. He graduated from Kalamazoo College with a degree in Economics. After conducting a life-long search to fill the yearning in his heart, Terry converted to Roman Catholicism where he finally felt he was home. He married Mary Ellen in 1966. The couple moved to Texas, where Terry pursued his studies and taught at Southwest Texas State College.
Terry led a life marked by dedication, service, and love. He answered the call to serve his country, joining the Central Intelligence Agency in 1974. The family moved to Virginia for his career which also took them to Mexico and the Philippines where he served with distinction.
His children remember him as a kind, gentle, and patient father. He spent hours researching to find answers for questions his children brought to him and loved nothing more than caring for his family. He gave the warmest, enveloping hugs and always made sure they knew they were loved.
Terry was a sincere Catholic and he instilled his love of the Church in his family. For years, Terry chose the 4:00 am hour to give to God in adoration. Terry is remembered for his life of devotion but mostly for the unwavering love he had for his family. He is deeply missed.
