I hadn't seen Tom in years, but when I worked at Schinnerer, he was a kind and generous presence. So sorry to hear this.

So sorry to hear of Tom's untimely death. I got to know him at ACEC national meetings on insurance issues. We waited for Tom to speak because he gave such important advice and guidance. He seemed to enjoy being with engineers, and we enjoyed his quiet presence. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

I always considered Tom as my best "professional liability" mentor. He taught me so much and was such a gracious teacher. He will always be remembered as a true friend and as a kind gentlemen.

Dear Mr. Porterfield, I am sorry I never had the opportunity to meet you. I did however know your daughter and worked with her at a florist shop in Charlottesville. What a beautiful daughter you raised. She brightened my day just by being in it.
She spoke often of you and her family with love. My sympathies to your family. May you remain always close in their hearts. ❤ Sharon Predmore

In my years of working with Tom before and at Schinnerer, I valued him as a friend, a mentor, and a model of dedication to those relying on him. I will always remember him and his love for his family including the time he and I were on a business trip and he searched the city of Savannah for a Cabbage Patch doll. My thoughts and prayers are for Eileen and the entire family.

It is with much sadness that I learned of the death of a dear friend and work colleague. Although I have not seen the Porterfields in years Tom held a special place in my heart. We have lost a truly good human being.

Tom Porterfield was a true professional and a friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. He impressed me from our first meeting with his knowledge of the insurance business and generosity in sharing that knowledge with those of us who had the privilege to work with him. Tom set a high standardboth personally and as a representative of the Victor O. Schinnerer organizationthat is unequaled.
