My Gosh Tony we all miss you....Im still retelling many of your very funny stories,though you were the best story teller of them all. A privilege to have known you. You will remain in our thoughts and fond memories..........

A deer crossed my path one day & I thought "Not a 'deer' goes by that I don't think about you".  I thought you'd get a kick out of that, Tony, up in the Great Hunting Camp in Heaven.

I still can't believe you are gone. I will never get over the love I had for you, the admiration I have for you is and always will be amazing  , and I will always cherish your love of our son,  and your love for me. Nothing compares.
Until we meet again, my lovely friend...my true love,  keep smiling and know that you are missed beyond words.

Years are passing by, we are getting old.. Every year, I remember you saying that Osman life is short, live it  best and full. I miss you my friend, I miss you a lot. You left us very early.

It was wonderful to see your mother, son, brother and sisters at the Career Center this month and to hear Mike's moving tribute as they instituted the Tony DelGallo scholarship, which will be given every year.  Just one more wonderful way to keep your memory alive -- not that we needed prodding.

As we enter another June, I cannot believe that it has been nearly one year since we lost our beloved Tony.  He is still thought of so very often and missed so very very deeply.  Tony continues to touch so many ......  and always will.

I was saddened and shocked to hear about Tony's passing. I knew him from kindergarten through W- L and was in "Smitty's" carpentry class with him. If only more people could be so genuine. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

After reading all the heartfelt messages here about Tony from family, friends, co-workers and students, and listening to his brother Mike's moving Eulogy at the service today, I can only hope that all who knew Tony will remember to practice what he preached- Be kind and generous to others, work hard (but take time to play too!), and love those around you whether near or far, mightily. Tony, it was a pleasure to have met you and have worked with you for many years at the Career Center.  I remember you as a great teacher, always in a good mood, always happy to help the minority students, always ready to take on another student even in the middle of the year, always just and fair to all.  I remember your love for hunting and your questions about hunting trips to Argentina (which I knew nothing about).  I remember your presentations during the Career Center tours... But most of all, I remember you as a great person, great coworker, and great friend.  You will be missed!!

To all of Tony's family and friends I offer my deepest sympathy for such a tragic loss.  I knew Tony through my  boys,  they took his carpentry classes (Wakefield classes of 2003 and 2007).  He didn't just teach them, he mentored them, and helped shape them into the men they are today.  I'm so proud of them and so grateful to Tony, and I know there are hundreds of other parents who feel the same way.   The Career Center will never be the same.  Rest in peace Tony.

Tony was truly a great and generous man. He was always available to help and seemed to find a way to connect to everyone. He made a point of bringing his latest turkey beard or antlers to show me and offered to let me use them in my animal science class. He also took a sincere interest in helping my son learn about guns and hunting when I happened to mentioned his interest (knowing full well that I couldn't help with either of those things). He generously offered to take him out anytime to share his love of nature. He always had a smile and kept everyone laughing. Tony will truly be missed as a co-worker but more importantly as a friend. My prayers are with you all during this time.

Words are not adequate to express how much we all loved Tony.  He was so kind, genuine and helpful to everyone.  Tony had a special relationship with each person he met.  He had a lot of different interests and always found some unique connection with each person.  Tony lived life to the fullest.  He was a true gift to all of us who had the privilege of knowing him. We will all miss him tremendously.  Our thoughts, prayers, and love go out to his family.

Tony taught me to look ahead. Whatever the circumstances, he met the situation square on.  He had championship tenacity.  In addition, he had a gentle and caring side which I'm sure his horse, Sally, can add her own words.

Tony, my man, you left us WAY too soon, and speaking for all of us who knew you well, we greatly mourn your passing.  But looking down on us from the firmament as you undoubtedly are, I just have to relay to everyone else who's reading this some of my best memories of ya, both humorous and serious.  First of all, you always seemed to find a way to make me laugh, about any old thing that was on your mind. And that art class we took together in 10th grade at W&L where you made me do all the work on the 35mm shark attack stop-action film we both got an 'A' on:  priceless.  I never did take you up on the "blue green algae" supplement you and your bro's were selling in the '90's, but I should have:  that stuff really does give you more energy!  Through the years when I would pass by your mom's house on Jackson St. on my bike on my way back home from work and you would be hangin' out front, you kept inviting me to Lake Anna to go huntin' and fishin' with you, and I kept takin' a pass on that, and I really regret not ever going with you and the guys:  my loss.  And last but not least, the fabulous referral you made me of one of your electrician students from one of the classes you taught at the Arlington Career Center, who excellently re-wired my whole house at a very reasonable price:  I couldn't thank you enough for that, dude.  You were THE MAN.  I kind of lost touch with you the last several years, but there's no doubt in my mind that you always were one of the funniest, coolest, and down-to-earth guys I have ever known.  And reading some of your former students' Guest Book entries, they all loved ya, so you must have been an ace teacher too.

So here's to you, Tony.  The world was (and is) a better place because you were on it.  Rest in peace, man.  You earned it.

Tony had such a wonderful way of making everyone he met feel special.  When I needed a stick to hold a poster for my grandson's homecoming football game, he did not take my request lightly. He gave me what I needed with instructions on how to make the stick stand. What may seem minor, the act of caring came from a big heart. I will surely miss seeing him at the Career Center.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Tony. I grew up with his  family in Arlington. Having losted two sisters and both my parents, I can tell you it is a very hard thing to go through.  My heart and prayers go out to the whole Del Gallo family during this difficult time.

I will miss speaking and sharing with Tony  our different seasons of life. How we always supported one another. I always enjoyed going to Joe's to lunch with Tony and Manny to share quality time. I have fun memories of being in Miami and treating you to a beer that cost sixteen dollar  which we always joked about. I know we will all miss Tony's laugh and his funny stories.

Tony we are all so proud of you. Your dedication to your family,friends and students is a model for all of us to emulate. In 17 years I never saw you say no to anyone to help them out with a wood project at The Career Center.

We only knew each other for about a year, but right away you were very welcoming and over the year it became very apparent what a great guy you were.  We shared a lot of laughs in a short amount of time, and that means something to me.  I wish I had known you for longer.

I know you are in good hands now, your pleasant and cheerful manners will always keep in my mind.

"Alive" always described Tony. It is so difficult to imagine him gone. How could anyone talk with Tony and not come away feeling a bit better than they did before? He was that kind of guy. It has been my pleasure to know him for the past 11 years while I've worked at the Career Center and my honor to have shared working with his afternoon class this last year. Tony cared so much for the people around him. He was interested in how his coworkers were doing and wished to instill his values of hard work, professionalism, pride in a job well done, and all while enjoying the process. I can still hear his voice telling some story of stalking a wild turkey or that elusive 8-point buck. The Career Center and the world are poorer places without him. An all-around genuine and honest guy. He lives on in our hearts and minds.

I will always remember growing up with Tony and the rest of the Del Gallo kids in Arlington.  The world is a lonelier place without Tony.  We send our condolences to the entire family.

Tony and his brother Tom (our then neighbor) did a wonderful job building our deck and carport 20+ years ago on N. Taylor.  Our sincere condolences to the Del Gallo family and friends.

We've all heard it before; but it could never be more appropriately restated than for Tony--The TRUE measure of a man cannot be found in the car they drive, the house they live in, or the largeness of their bank account. It's found in the hearts and minds of the ones that love and have been loved by him. Whoever the man was to you...'Tone', 'Tony D', 'Snaggle-Tooth', 'Mountain Man', or simply Tony, nothing; not your skin color, your education, your portfolio, your political affiliation, or your last name mattered. If you knew and laughed with Tony for more than 5 minutes, you, I and those like us, have lost a brother.

For me, my brother of almost 35 years will forever be on the Mt. Rushmore of true men; and I and my family will remain better people because of his presence in our lives.

I know I will see Tony again, and not just in Heaven. For as long as I live, Tony will be under every dead walnut tree that sits along the edge of the cut corn; thru the smoke on the down-wind side of the campfire with his Stetson pulled low; in the camp chair beside me when the Wild Turkey makes its rounds; around every corner on mountain trails, waiting to jump from behind a tree. Tony will be there whenever powder is burned or hunting stories are told. A voice inside us will kid us for missing the easy 'floater', or shooting over the bucks back. We'll smile, and our laugh's will carry a little 'he-he' at the end. Tony WILL be there with us; always.

Tony always had a story to tell.  A kind hearted, compassionate, sincere person who cared for his students, his coworkers, his friends and his family.

I have known the Del Gallo family almost my entire life through affiliations with my family and through school. It is with honor and sympathy that I send my thoughts and prayers out to Tony and the rest of his family during this difficult time. You will surely be missed.

how can you NOT smile through the tears in seeing that happy photo of tony?

tony made each of us feel we were his special friend. he called me 't'.  i'll miss talking with tony about the outdoors, firearms, turkeys, deer, grouse, rubs, tracks, and scat and will cherish the gifted tail feather from that spring turkey that skunked him and the shellacked turkey foot of one that didn't. i'll miss hearing tony's tales of allowing a spike buck walk by and fatten up for another year by "giving him a pass". only turkeys and deer can be happy tony is gone.

i felt proud when tony introduced me, hand on my shoulder, as his 'i.t. guy'. he became mr. technology--really!--when he realized google satellite and terrain views could help him plot his hunts. "see, t, deer will bed here and then funnel up this valley. i'll set-up here."  he constantly challenged himself in the outdoors (although he never got his goose-in-flight with a long bow).

who didn't like tony? he was a lover of people, nature and life, not a hater. tony had a way of sharing difficulties without complaint or blame. i never heard tony hurtfully criticize another. he was a kind and considerate man who people gathered around because he made you feel happy and accepted. tony was a genuine, unpretentious and honorable man who would cover a friend's back.

tony was more than a man's man. he was a person's person. he was my friend and i will miss him deeply.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Tony's passing. My sincere condolences go out to the entire Del Gallo family. Many of my fondest high school memories include Tony in them. Rest in peace, old friend. And tell my Dad that I love and miss him . . . Robin

Yes, life is short, too short. Where did thirty years go? Tony's passing is really a wake-up call. It looks like he is still teaching ?  Chrissy and Donna, my true beloved friends, my college roommates, introduced me to their large, tight-knit, and loving family all those years ago. You all share a place in my heart. It's safe to say that The Career Center will never be the same.  I (like many others) can still see him turning the corner with his silver cup in hand.  He was appreciated and will be missed by so many co-workers and students.  We all have some pretty big shoes to fill.

Dear Family, Friends, Special Loved Ones Of Tony,

I probably don't know all of you because you see, my mom Maria is Tony's girlfriend who he deeply loved. I really got to know Tony since late last year around September and ever since then there has always been a soft spot in my heart for him. Tony taught me how to drive believe it or not. I will never forget our lessons, the secret trips to 7/11 he made me take him and not tell my mom (even though I spilled the news when we got back), and the laughs we shared. I was always nervous driving with my mom, but with Tony everything was just so calm, he trusted me so much, that I drove almost like I already had my license on my 3rd month of having my license. Tony also shared wonderful bonding moments with my brothers as well; he taught my youngest brother Kyle how to fish and both of my brothers how to shoot guns. Tony was at my house a lot because of my mom, and every time he was over he'd want to take us out to get pizza and then get ice cream for dessert; always. We would walk to Baskin Robins or Safeway since the stores were right down our street. We will all never forget those walks. Tony, you were the father I always wanted. You didn't have to have the title to deserve the job because frankly, you already did it as soon as we met. Another thing I am so thankful for is when he took me and my family to Mike&Wendy's to ride his horse. I will never forget that. Tony, I really miss you and knowing that you thought of me as the daughter you always dreamed of and you almost had officially makes the pain even worse. We love you and thanks for changing my families lives, my mother's life forever, and my life too.

Whether you were meeting Tony for the first time or reflecting on the story of his latest foray in the woods in pursuit of elusive prey, you came away with the same impression:  Here was a man of earnest passion.  He certainly had it while outdoors, and he possessed it also in his classroom and with his coworkers.  We all benefited from knowing Tony - none more, however, than the students who carry his passion forward.  God bless you, Tony.

Tony,  We were the Construction Cluster at the Career Center for sixteen years.  We taught together, we built together, we shared our time together.  Words alone cannot express how grateful I am for those years. Your skills, dedication to the students, positive outlook and friendly manner to all are missed. One of my favorite memories of Tony exists in the wooden podium he made for me out of old church wood. I still use it in my classroom to this day, and it remains one of my most treasured teacher keepsakes.

I keep thinking of Tony gathering up the Angels for a game of Left Right Center...that deep belly laugh as he calls those dice "Come back to me, now, come back to me".  He said the dice always came back to him, and, by golly, they DID! The best part, though, was right after he pulled that pile o' money towards him braggin on his big win, he'd throw it all up in the air for the kids to squeal and jump and grab for! Seeing him play w/ his neices and nephews at Thanksgiving was the best.  Tony wouldn't let a "single mom" buy so much as sandwich in his presence.  He was very giving. Three one dollar bills and whole lotta fun.  He showed us, and we'll think of him every time we gather 'round a table to laugh and play!

Tony, I hope you know how much you mean to everyone. You were the best teacher, mentor, and father figure anyone could ever ask for, but most of all, a great friend that I will never forget. Thank you for all that you taught me, being patient and teaching me a trade, giving me your knowledge. When I first met you, I wasn't anywhere near sure what I was going to do after high school. After 3 years of studying carpentry with you, I had a much better idea. It wasn't necessarily to be a carpenter, but to be a good person, help everyone I can, and most of all to live my life to the fullest, now that you are gone, that sets in so much more. I am still in shock from the news and very sad. Our family in Connecticut has not seen all of you much in recent years with work, kids and hectic schedules each day but I will always remember the fun we had as kids visiting and the times we spent at eachothers weddings. Even though it would be a period of time between visits it always seemed like old times when we would get together with our cousins. I am glad I was able to spend time with Tony growing up and through the years from time to time. He was funny and great to be around. Reading the numerous messages shows how he impacted so many lives. Jacob, your Dad will really be missed by all of us.  I am glad my Mom and Dad were able to see Tony just recently, I wish I had been there as well.

Tony, I love to remember you in 1976, I will never forget when you hit that triple to beat Sammy Fox and his, I think, Better Homes, 12 and under, at Barcroft 1. I have spent much of the past week sharing memories, smiles, hugs, and tears with Tony's colleagues and students, past and present.  What a legacy he leaves behind!  A whole generation of young people will be better men and women for having known Tony.  (And most can even drive a nail or two.)

When we were in 1st grade my mom passed away. Tony would always bring me to his house after school then, his mom tried to feed me sardines, and he tried to make me laugh. When his pop was our Little League coach, he passed. I tried to return the kindness. Making TDG laugh was THE BEST. He has such a great family that he was a "brother" to everyone he knew.
I haven't seen him in almost 10 yrs, but I know two things:
1) we would make each other laugh
2) we would speak of our families like we had just talked yesterday
What a great kid to grow up with-and a fine man to know...

Tony, I have fond childhood memories of you during our school days at Long Branch and T.J.  You dated some of my very good friends and were always a good friend to me. I remember walking to school with you crossing the overpass to T.J., throwing snowballs and hanging around before the bell rang.  You were always so sweet, funny, caring and kind.  I was so happy to reconnect after so many years on facebook even if it was for a short time.   I know that the love and memories will travel with you on your peaceful journey.  My heart felt prayers go out to your son, your mother, family and loved ones.  I will always remember you, Andy and your brother Tom fondly.  May God be with you and comfort you all during this time.

my heart goes out to the del gallo family.  to have gone too soon is such a loss to everyone.  all the sentiments express what a wonderful person tony was, and that has to ease the sorrow that you feel.  may god bless and surround with his love, at the time.

To the entire Del Gallo Family:

I'm so sorry for your loss!  I feel blessed to have known all of you since my childhood.  I will always consider you family!  Tony, was a very sweet man and I was blessed to have grown up around him, I loved coming to the Del Gallo home and being with the family.  He always had kind words for me, especially the last time I saw him when I needed them the most.  He will surely be missed.  I know he taught, and knowing his personally I know he impacted and changed a lot of lives.  May we all be so lucky in our journey to have the type of family Tony has, to have the type of impact on children that Tony has had, and to have love surrounding us during our life.  Rest in Peace Tony!

Tony, you were always so kind and loving to everyone you met. It was indeed an honor to have known you. RIP my friend.

Tony, my sweet, sweet beautiful Tony. There will never be another you. You are my everything. I love you and I always will. As you often reminded me, I am yours, now & forever. You left me too soon.

Tony will be missed.  His personality was one of a kind.  His laugh was contagious... just thinking of his laugh cracks me up.  

I took Tony's class back in 1999 - 2002 and have stayed in contact ever since.  His class taught more than just carpentry.  I learned many valuable lessons in life, financial planning, and of course, relationships.  I know each and every one of his students would say the same.

Tony, you were like a second father to me.  Rest in peace, old friend.

That smile said it all...such a wonderful, gifted, positive, and kind person who always made me smile.  Gone way too soon...I will miss you friend.  See you on the other side.

My thoughts and prayers are to his family during this very sad time.
When Tony and I would talk he would talk about what he wanted to accomplish with his students and how special they were, talked about Jake and how close they were, how they did so many things together.
Tony would stop by my house on the way to his house every so often and ask me if I had seen any buck; he SO wanted to hunt on my property - I would tell him "YES BUT NO HUNTNG"
I picture him in the most beautiful forest and he is there hunting deer and bear and so enjoying himself.
Tony, what a caring and special person you were and still are to me, your family, your son, and friends.
