Virginia Smith Corey

On July 12, 2017, Virginia “Ginny” Corey passed away in her home in Arlington, VA with her five children at her side. Beloved wife for almost 70 years of Neil R. Corey, she was preceded in death by her husband Neil, son-in-law Ralph Patten, Jr. and great-granddaughter Maureen McFalls. Known as “Gigi” by her family, she is survived by her five children Maureen Patten, Steven Corey (Kathy), Kevin Corey (Maria), Kathleen Clough (Andy), and Neil Corey Jr. (Dawn); her sisters Ann Romberg, Sheila Costa and Joyce Brennan (John); sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Gigi was a remarkable woman who was loved by all those who were lucky enough to spend time with her over almost ninety years of life. Gigi will be missed by her family and friends and will always be remembered as a woman who enjoyed life to its fullest and spending time with her family. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 19 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Arlington, VA at 11:00 am. A private family burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
