

a native Washingtonian and World War II Veteran, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013. Bill started as an Apprentice Printer at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in 1938 and retired as Division Assistant Superintendant in 1974. As a young man, Bill played on his neighborhood football and baseball teams and also won the Washington, D.C. Horseshoe Championship in 1936. He was also an avid bowler, poker player, pool shooter, and golf enthusiast, but it is his Irish charm, humor, and good nature that will be remembered and missed the most. His wife Betty passed away in 2008. He is survived by his three children, Jeanne Svikhart, Linda Ann Moran (Paul), Thomas Joseph Quigley (Karen), and two grandchildren, Eric Michael Quigley and Sarah Ann Quigley, and many other relatives, friends, and admirers. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Homes, 4510 Wilson Blvd. in Arlington, Virginia. A gathering of Bill's family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:30 P.M. at La Cote D'Or Restaurant, 6876 Lee Highway in Arlington. A tribute to Bill will begin at 2:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Bill would want everyone to think of him the next time they are out having a good time.
