Woody was previously married to the late Robert B. Jordan. He was the son of Woodrow and Catherine Klinger, and survived by Dorothea Rauch, Blaine Shaffer, Seth and Brian Shaffer of Northumberland, PA. Woody is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
After graduating from Shikellamy high school in 1966, Woody attended Bloomsburg University earning a BS degree in secondary education. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was stationed at the Pentagon working for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
Hired by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in Washington, D.C., he worked for 38 years in Retirement Services, administering and managing federal benefits to federal retirees. He taught retirement benefits to federal employees and conducted retirmenet seminars across the United States.
Woody recieved numerous awards from his agency and was presented with a United States flag that flew in front of his agency on the day he retired.
After retiring from the federal governement, he volunteered for the American Cancer Society taking patients to treatment programs and medical appointments who did not have the resources to transport themselves.
Woody was also credentialed and certified as a CARES Dementia counselor and was working on certifications for bereavement and grief counseling.
A Celebration of Life Visitation of Woody's will take place at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, VA 22203 on Thursday, August 27th from 11 am to 12:30 pm. Interment will follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery at 1 pm.
