Anthony "Tony" M. Canteras

Anthony M. Canteras Feb. 20, 1936-Dec 09, 2018 Tony passed away at age 82 at Josephine’s Caring Community in Stanwood, WA with loved ones by his side. He suffered in recent years with cancer, strokes, and chronic illnesses. He was born to Frank and Virginia Canteras of New Kensington, PA. After graduation from New Kensington High School, he enlisted in the Air Force in 2954 and was honorably discharged in 1958 and active reserves in 1962. He attended San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, summer courses majoring in Public Relations, under the GI Bill. Tony belonged to the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Later in life he continued his education at Seattle Pacific University. He worked for the San Francesco Chronicle in advertising. Then, attended New York Stock Exchange for Francis I. DuPont, taking him from San Francisco to Honolulu. As a FTD field rep brought him to the Northwest. Tony’s pride was his family. He is survived by his wife, Robyn, of 57 years; Sons Christopher and Kevin, and daughter Carrie (Tony) and Cynthia; 7 grandchildren Darian, Christopher, Cate, Robbie, Josie, Jon, and Jamie; and many nieces and nephews who all loved him. Some of his favorites……Vacations and dinners with his family, golf, all sports including Pittsburg Steelers and Pittsburg Pirates. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Virginia Canteras; Mother and Father-in-law, Robert and Hilde Finley; sister Josephine Christensen; brother and sister-in-law Joan and Bob Finley Jr; his grandmother and grandfather. The family would like to thank Josephine’s, especially Memory care, for the exceptional care. Our hearts are full of gratitude their kindness they show every day to their residents. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to Josephine’s. A private family service will be held at the Little White Chapel on the Hill in Stanwood at a later date, weather permitting.
