In Loving Memory of Arlene McKellar
Arlene McKellar, beloved daughter of Paul and Ethel Lee, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength that touched every life she encountered.
Born into a large and loving family, Arlene shared a special bond with her siblings — Eugene, Patsy, Wanda, Kenny, and her cherished twin sister, Arliss. Her family extended to many aunts, uncles and cousins who she grew up around and loved deeply. These early years, rooted in warmth and connection, were the foundation of a life centered on family, friendship, and faith.
Arlene was a devoted and loving mother to her sons, Jim and David, and took great pride in the lives they built. She lovingly welcomed Jim’s wife Mari and David’s wife Karen, into her heart and family, loving them as her own daughters. Arlene also poured her heart into her role as grandmother to Keelin and CD Kinley, Brent and Jessica Rochon, and Shayla and Jordan Lange — each of whom she nurtured with encouragement, compassion, and an ever-present hug with laughter to meet any occasion.. Her joy only deepened with the arrival of her great-grandchildren — Avery, Elle, Oliver, Gia, and Parker — who brought light and laughter into her later years.
Throughout her life, Arlene was blessed with many dear friends. From her childhood days in Conway, WA, to her years at Mount Vernon High School (Class of 1954), and through the decades spent sharing laughter, support, and celebrations with her beloved birthday club, Arlene cultivated meaningful friendships that endured the test of time.
A woman of deep faith, Arlene found great comfort and joy in her involvement with both Fir Conway Lutheran Church and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She especially loved singing in their choirs, where her voice lifted in harmony with her spirit — joyful, steady, and full of grace. Her church communities were not only places of worship but also sources of fellowship and purpose, which she held close to her heart.
Arlene will be remembered not only for her warmth and devotion but also for her quiet generosity. She gave freely and often — helping a stranger at the grocery store, or selling her car to a young, first-time driver and neighbor for just one dollar. Her giving spirit never sought recognition or return. It was simply who she was — someone who believed in lifting others up, whether she knew them or not. Her quiet acts of kindness left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to witness them.
Arlene’s life was a tapestry woven from simple joys, enduring friendships, and steadfast devotion to her family and faith. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and love — reflected in every life she touched. Though she is no longer with us in person, her spirit continues to resonate in the music she sang, the faith she lived, and the memories cherished by those who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A funeral service for Arlene will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Fir-Conway Lutheran Church, 18101 Fir Island Rd, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
