

Bessie Mae Salkeld slipped away peacefully to be with our Lord Wednesday morning, April 9; 2014. She now joins her loving husband, Curtis W. Salkeld, who passed away last April. Bessie Mae Arrington was born in Madison County, North Carolina, August 11, 1925. She was raised and schooled in Flag Pond, Tennessee with her sister and brothers. In 1952 she married Curtis Salkeld in Johnson City, TN, and later on they went to live in California. They moved to Washington State in 1961 and have since resided in the Everett, Washington area. Bessie Mae loved California and the Pacific Northwest, but she never forgot where she came from. She was a wonderful lady from Tennessee. She loved our Lord and she treasured her family and her friends. Bessie Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Arrington and Minnie Rice, her sister, Pearl Arrington Taylor, her five brothers Joseph, Nelson, William, Henry, and Duck Arrington. She is survived by nieces Brindia (Leo) Arrington Gaines, Ashville, N.C. and Linda Arrington Parrino, Kingsport, Tennessee, Terry (Lonnie) Behrens, Red Bluff, California, Shelly (Mike) Steen, Geyserville, California. She is also survived by nephews Larry (Joyce) Arrington, Charleston, S.C., William David Arrington, Michael Arrington, and Rick Arrington all of Erwin, Tennessee, and Richard (Kristen) Arrington, St. Mary's, Georgia, Bob (Pam) Smith, Healdsburg, California.
A service for Bessie Mae Salkeld will be held April 19, 2014, 10:00 AM at Weller Funeral Home, 327 N MacLeod Ave, Arlington, WA, 98223. 360-435-3977, www.wellerfh.net. Graveside service is to follow. In remembrance of Bessie Mae, please make any donations to your own favorite charities.
