Darrell “Buzz” Lewis Evans was born April 18, 1934 in Oso, Washington on his grandfather’s farm to Ella and Stan Evans. Buzz lived in the Arlington area his entire life. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1952 and married Gail Johnson in 1957.
He started his working career in the grocery business at Safeway, then B&M Food Stores. He moved on to own a Surge dealership, installing milking parlors. He finished his working life out at Glacier Food Storage in Arlington in 1996, excited for a retirement filled with fishing.
Buzz was an avid sports fan, playing both football and baseball in high school, and loved to get into a pickup game of basketball in his earlier years.
The loves of his life were family and friends, fishing, telling stories (usually about fishing), football, baseball, other sports, if football and baseball season were over, country and western music, woodworking, mowing the lawn, drinking coffee, and going out for breakfast – his favorite meal.
He passed away peacefully at his home on December 27, 2012 surrounded by his family and friends, after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, three children, a granddaughter and many, many close friends and family and preceded in death by one son, his parents and his sister.
