My Uncle Dennis was a huge positive influence on my life as all of my Uncles have been. I learned from him:
1) How to dive into a pool without fear, horseback riding, and to be confident that taking a scary risk (which may feel like it was but wasn't) comes with rewards
2) Family is everything: It wasn't until college that I truly realized that not everyone has cousins they considered siblings, and that family events with 30+ folks was normal. No matter how much time has passed, we just pick up as if it was yesterday. Dennis was a huge part of building that.
3) Humor and humility-we were taught not to take ourselves too seriously, laugh at ourselves, each other, and just laugh as much as possible. Oh, and Bigfoot is real! I love you, Uncle Dennis. I love you, Aunt Carol. And I love you all, my Kujath family!

There was not a time in my early life that Dennis was not a large part. We grew up together in the Snoqualmie Valley and attended school from kindergarten through high school.
Like so many friends, after our school days, life saw us drift our separate ways. Periodically we would meet. I always valued those times. It brought back so many great memories and always a great deal of laughter. Over the years Dennis remained one of the truly positive people I have ever met, always a ready smile, always a firm handshake and a valued friend.
True friendship isn't being inseparable, it is being separated and nothing changes.
I will miss him.
