Elfreda Eileen Ashe

Elfreda, age 96, passed away 11/06/25. She was born in Ludington, MI to John and Ida Greenwald. When she was 3 years old, her dad died and her mom moved them back to the family farm in Reed City, MI. A few years later they relocated to Saco, MT. She went on to become an RN, first at Peralta Hospital in Oakland, CA, then later working for 32 years at Everett General Hospital.

It was while she was in Oakland that she met her future husband, Don Ashe, who was serving in the navy at the time. When his enlistment was up, they moved to his hometown of Darrington, WA. There they raised two daughters; Marjorie (Les) Allen and Karen Ashe. In addition, she leaves two grandsons; Scott (Tracie) Hoglund and Sean (Cecillia) Hoglund. Also, two great granddaughters; Kenadie and Mollie Hoglund, and three great grandsons; Wyatt, Liam and Reece Hoglund. Freda was preceded in death by her parents John and Ida, stepfather Jesse Bollinger, brother Dick Greenwald, and her husband of 62 years, Don Ashe.

Graveside will be at 1:00 Monday 11/17/25 at Darrington Cemetery. Services to follow at 2:00 at the United Methodist Church in Darrington. Lunch will be served at the church after.
