Erin Galli Galli Marques

June 15, 1977August 17, 2013

Erin Galli Marques, 36, died from an aneurysm on August 17, 2013. Erin was the daughter of Arlington residents, Larry Galli and Shanna (Roley) Galli; loving sister, of Jodi Galli; and granddaugther, of Ruby Roley. She was married in 2008 to David Marques. They have two children, two year old Molly and newborn Will. She was a devoted wife and mother and put family first. Erin graduated from Arlington HS in 1996. She was chosen Homecoming Queen and Prom Queen. Her infectious smile and joyous extroverted personality drew others to her. She enjoyed her wonderful circle of friends, who remained a part of her life until her sudden death. Erin was a gregarious checker at Safeway during high school and college. Erin studied Health Education at Central WA University. After graduating, she taught at schools in Snohomish County for nine years including Jackson High School (2005-Present). Erin had a passion for the "sensitive topics" and thrived in discussions with students about sex education, drugs, and alcohol. Erin was a proud Timberwolf and loved the JHS staff and students. She completed four marathons in her life, including the 2007 Boston Marathon. She also enjoyed cooking, shopping and spa days with her girlfriends, and Sunday dinners with family. Erin's favorite "unofficial" holiday was an annual RV Camping trip to Lake Chelan. For the past 38 years the "Kamikaze Kampers" have joined together to sing, eat, play games, and create lasting friendships. A public memorial will be held on August 25, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Arlington High School. A fund has been setup for Erin's children. Donations can be made at any Coastal Community Bank.

Shanna, Larry and Marques Family,

Erin exemplified the finest of qualities. Her life, though all too brief, served as a gift and light to many. May the joy and learning that she set in motion surround you with love through this challenging loss.

Mrs. Marques was one of few teachers who really impacted my life. Even after I had her, when we would run into each other in the halls we would stop and chat. A few years before I went to Jackson, Mrs. Marques had my older cousin as a student. When my older cousin got pregnant at a young age, Mrs. Marques had nothing but excitement to share with me and would always ask me how she and the baby were doing. It is so unfortunate that so many students will not get to have her a teacher, and I keep her family in my thoughts.

Erin you will always be remembered by your bright eyes and quick smile. You loved my brother and your sweet babies with all your heart and soul. I will miss your fun mail, family dinners, and most of all your laughter. You'll always be in heart.

It was beyond an honor being able to see your beautiful smile each morning as I walked in through the doors of Jackson High this year. Being a freshman I was truly nervous, but you made me able to feel comfortable very quickly with the school seeing you and hearing your unmistakable laugh that put joy in the classes hearts because its the little things you did for me along with others that many teachers were not good at that made my first year enjoyable. I remember a time when I was in class and another student wanted a piece of gum and I threw him a piece while Mrs. Marques was talking across the room to him and she stopped and began to yell at me after saying sorry she began that laugh the laugh that brightened the halls of Jackson throughout the classroom and said, "I'm kidding! But seriously, you better have another piece for me." It was stuff like that she would do to make school enjoyable. Your heart will forever be with me and fill the Jackson halls with wolf pack pride. Rest in peace Mrs. Marques.
