John will always be remembered for his gregarious spirit of adventure, passion for life, goofy sense of humor, and the unwavering love he brought to his roles as a friend, husband, father, and grandpa.
Born September 23,1950 in San Pedro, California to Matthew (Bertapelli) Berry & Lena (Ljubich), John’s adventures with his family led him to his home in the Pacific Northwest. Throughout the years, he was happiest near the water fishing, crabbing, shrimping, and boating. Some of the best times of his life were spent aboard his beautiful yacht, the Let It Ride, where the water, wind, and open horizon felt like home to him.
John’s devotion to his family, friends, and animals was felt deeply by all who knew him. His protective nature, big laugh, and boundless affection created a sense of belonging wherever he went. Proud of his parent’s heritage he often times attributed his strength, zest and vigor to his “good ole Yugoslavian blood!”
He leaves behind the love of his life, Kristine Dawn Berry, children Parker Berry, Blake Berry, McKenzie Dingman (Mike) Tracey Bartel (Billy) Jason Goodfellow and grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as Poppy or Papa, Graham, Porter, Reid, Michelle, great grandsons Charlie and Bennett as well as many beloved stepchildren, grand and great grandchildren.
We like to think he is now swinging away on a lush green fairway — well under par.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a future date.
