In Loving Memory of Peter J. Poeschel March 30, 1935 – August 20, 2025 Peter J. Poeschel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at Providence Hospital in Everett, Washington, at the age of 90.
Born on March 30, 1935, to Joseph Poeschel and Ingaborg Olsen (Poeschel), Peter grew up in Western Washington with a deep respect for hard work, family, and the natural world. A proud graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1953, he spent his life building both a career and a legacy rooted in the timber-rich lands he loved.
Peter was a partner in Poeschel and Schultz, a thriving timber enterprise that helped shape the forestry landscape across Western Washington. Known for his dedication and leadership, Peter was admired by many in the logging community. He was a long-time member of the Hoo-Hoo logging organization and a dedicated supporter of the Busted Up Loggers Association—groups that reflected his lifelong commitment to the logging profession and the people within it.
Peter also had a passion for history and was actively involved in several historical societies, finding joy and purpose in preserving the stories of the past and connecting with others who shared that interest. He valued camaraderie deeply and was always quick with a story, a smile, or a helping hand.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Donna Poeschel. He was the father of Judson Poeschel (Jutta), Lois Peterson, Carl H. Poeschel (Teresa), James Poeschel (Patti), and Sandie Langdon (Jeff). He leaves behind a legacy in his grandchildren: Melissa Poeschel, Rebecca Bailey, Heather Peterson, Derek Peterson, Hollie Peterson, Carissa Stahl, Courtney Mantia, Joseph Poeschel, Jacob Poeschel, Alea Poeschel, Michael Gonzales, Marisa Levitsis and many great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his only cousin, Harvey Olsen, and Harvey’s daughter, Robin King.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Cindy Poeschel.
In addition to his family, Peter is remembered by many good friends and neighbors—whose lives were touched by his kindness, wit, and enduring loyalty. He cherished those friendships and carried them with him throughout his life. Those who knew Peter will remember him for his quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and deep love for his friends, and community. His life was one of purpose, resilience, and generosity. Though he has left this world, the values he lived by and the memories he leaves behind will endure for generations.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
