Richard "Dick" Gordon Nelson Jr.

Richard Gordon Nelson, Jr. ("Dick") August 25, 1949 September 24, 2021 Richard G. Nelson Jr. ("Dick") passed away in the morning of Friday September 24, 2021. He was 72 years old, and the son of Richard G. Nelson Sr. and Joan R. Nelson. Richard was the stepfather to two daughters of his late wife Donna Lee Nelson. His younger years were filled with family, friends, fishing, hunting and many adventures in the amazing Pacific Northwest. He was such a fun loving, adventurous individual and always was there to lend a helping hand. He always made a lot of friends wherever he went. Richard married Donna Lee, the love of his life, in 2002. They had 7 years together until her passing in 2009. He graduated from Inglemoor High School in 1967. Honorable Discharge from United States Army 1969 - 1971. 1989 - 2017 Insurance Claims Representative for Catastrophe Loss, Storm type damages, Hurricanes, Tornados, Ice Storms, Fire Storms, Earthquakes, Commercial and Personal Property Insurance Claims etc. Richard had pretty much retired after that. He lived in Coupeville, WA on Whidbey Island, in the same house that he had built for his father and mother in 1986. He moved into the house with his wife in 2004 after the passing of both parents. Richard leaves behind his sisters, Debbie (Gary) Simmons, Diana Nelson, step-daughter, Krystle (Bill) Mills (step-grandkids, Simon, and Reagan), step-daughter, Brittney (Matt) Gagne (step-grandkids, Andrew, Maddy, Peyton), cousins and countless friends. Richard will be remembered for his permanent smile, his big laugh, his sense of humor and his big love for life! He will be greatly missed by all.
