Rick was happily married to Linda Hartley for 51 years.
Linda preceded Rick in death and he lovingly cared for her for eight years as she suffered from Alzheimers.
Above all, Rick loved his family and friends. He was known for helping others in their time of need and was a man of great compassion. He also had a passion for good food and enjoyed sharing a good meal with friends and family more than any other activity. In general, he fully lived out his gift of giving and finding the best restaurants.
Rick was a family man. His wife, children and grandchildren meant more to him than anything else. He was known as a proud and encouraging little league coach while his children grew up. For 10 years he coached little league baseball, basketball and football. Then, Rick could often be found at his grandchildren's sporting and musical events, supporting them in everything they did.
Rick enjoyed a long management career at Walton Beverage Company where he made many life long friends. He was also a loyal and active member of the Marysville Moose Lodge where he had many close friends.
Rick is survived by his three sons, Scott Hartley, Jay Hartley (Donalyn Hartley) and Tracy Hartley (Jana Hartley); four grandchildren, Autumn Hartley, Cortney Hartley, Holly Hartley and Grant Hartley; five great-grandchildren, Mallary Walker, Kylee Walker, Tanner Walker, Carter Walker and Wyatt Walker; his brother, Herb Hartley (Karen Hartley); his aunt, Eleanor Hartley; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Special thanks to the staff at Portland Adventist Medical Center in Portland, Oregon who showed incredible skill and love in caring for Rick in his last days, Elsie Pryor for her hospitality, Weller Funeral Home and Peace Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Loyal Heights Community Club in Arlington, Washington.
