

Sylvia Espe, 99,of Arlington, passed away June 29, 2014. She was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on August 19, 1914 to Arthur and Anna Speer. The family moved to Washington when Sylvia was 2 years old, and she lived in the Pacific Northwest her entire life. She graduated from Arlington High School in l932, and married George Espe in l933.
Sylvia trained as a practical nurse, earned her Realtor’s license, and worked in retail for several years but always remained focused on her love of homemaking. Sylvia was known for her homemade lefsa, pies and rolls; and also her lovely home and garden. She was a 70 year member of Bryant Grange and a charter member of Loyal Heights Community Club.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband George of 54 years; her son Arnold G. Espe; her granddaughter Inga Espe; her three brothers Rollin Speer, Albert Speer, and Donald Speer; and her 2 sisters Gertrude Anderson and Edith Soden. She is survived by her daughter Betty Williams (Bob); her grandchildren Mark Williams (Marla), Marilee Falde (Gary), Arnold J. Espe (Jenia), Eric Espe (Kristi); and 8 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday July 6, 2014, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church 615 E. Highland Drive, Arlington; with a luncheon reception to follow at Loyal Heights Community Hall, Bryant.
