

He was born October 13, 1922, to Gustave and Anna (Matthias) Suehs in Waupaca County, Township of Lebanon, Wisconsin. He received his 8th grade Diploma from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran School in Waterloo, Wisconsin May 6th, 1936. His day of Confirmation into the Lutheran faith was April 26, 1936.
He was the husband of the late Fern (Wyatt) Suehs and former husband of Viola (Schmidt) Suehs. Brother of Irene Sarna and Gordon "Bud" (Audrey) Suehs.
Loving father of daughters Connie (Suehs) Fortnam, Cindy (Suehs) Buckley, and Leah (Suehs) & husband Mike Moses. Adoring Grandfather of Aaron & wife Jami Geserick, Joe & wife Amanda Hendrickson, Matthew & wife Bridgette Spurlock and the late Brian Geserick. Great Grandfather of Christina & Kennady Geserick, Larkyn, Mykah, & Kadyn Hendrickson, and Matthias, Halle, & Malachi Spurlock.
Victor was decorated Veteran of WWII serving as a Merchant Marine in WWII. He served as an Apprentice Seaman, Class M-1. His service included time the Atlantic, Pacific, and Mediteranian Middle Eastern war zones, respectively. During this period, he was awarded medals by the United States Military for each zone. Victor was honorably discharged on Jan. 1, 1945 after serving on the "S.S. MORTON M. Mc CARVER", as well many other US Naval vessels. He also served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII, and was honorably discharged on August 7th, 1945.
He was awarded the following medals from the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, Maritime Administration:

He received "Patriotic Service" Award from the State of Missouri for his service in WWII.
He received a letter from US President Harry Truman on official White House letterhead thanking him for his service in WWII. - signed, "Harry S. Truman"
He was a Chaplain with the rank of "Major" (Officer Paygrade O-4), in the Air Force's Civil Air Patrol Division. He completed 43 years of professional Military service in this position. Reverend A. Victor Suehs was an ordained Missouri Synod Lutheran minister and a proofreader for Concordia Publishing House. Victor was a missionary in Ceylon, now Srilanka. (1957-1960)
He was the Pastor at "St. Paul's Lutheran Church" in Otto, MO from 1974-76. Initially he was filling in as a "pastoral vacancy placement" (unofficial), then was issued a formal call to serve, and was officially installed/served 1976- June, 1985.
He was one of the carpenters that built "Cedar Hill Lutheran Church" in March 27, 1988, when he was a member of Laborers for Christ..

There will be a graveside service held on Monday, January 25, 2016, 11:00 am at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, MO. Anyone wanting to attend the service, please meet behind administration building at the cemetery by 10:45 am.
