Doris J. Sturgeon, age 89, of Arnold, MO passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She was born in Advance, MO on September 14, 1935 to the late Merl and Lois (Hahn) Shell; beloved wife of the late Charles Sturgeon; loving mother of Gordon (Tammie) Sturgeon of House Springs, MO, Beverly (David) Smith of Springfield, MO and the late Ronald Sturgeon; loving grandmother of Christopher Wilkins, Danielle (Jonathan) White, Jessica Sturgeon, Cameron (Lauren) Wilkins, Jennifer (Jacob) Schneider and Aaron Sturgeon; loving great grandmother of Elizabeth and Isabelle White, Eliza and Emerson Schneider and Shiloh Wilkins; dear sister of Jerry (Marilyn) Shell of Bentonville, AR; dear aunt and friend to many.
Doris was a 40 year member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church where she served in the Choir, VBS and Women's Ministry. Doris made hundreds of quilts to be distributed to foster children and others in need. She enjoyed volunteering weekly at the Treasure Shoppe/Gateway Food Pantry in Arnold. Her passion for nurturing plants and flowers was evident in her thriving gardens. She was widely known for her floral arranging talents and shared that with many. Her warm smile and caring personality naturally lead her to build many long lasting relationships.
A visitation for Doris will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Grace Free Will Baptist Church, 2258 Tenbrook Rd, Arnold, MO 63010. Funeral service will be celebrated Saturday, September 20, 2025, 11:00 AM at Grace Free Will Baptist. Services will conclude at the church. Interment Monday at Jefferson Barracks National cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Doris's Honor may be made to Women's Ministry (WAC) at Grace Free Will Baptist Church, Arnold, Mo or to the Treasure Shoppe/Gateway Food Pantry, Arnold, MO.
