Francis Lloyd

Francis Lloyd, age 60, of Imperial, Missouri passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023. Dear son of the late Francis and Agnes Lloyd (nee Beagan). Loving Fiancee of Jennifer Picker. Dearest brother of Annie Lloyd and Celia Lloyd. Dear brother-in-law of Karen (Scott) Allen. Cherished uncle of Daniel, Sarah and Joshua Allen.

Francis was born in Preston England and raised in The Yorkshire Dales. He was confirmed in St. Joseph's, Green Hammerton. Francis attended school in Manchester and studied abroad in South Africa. He was a prolific banker in London. He came to the US to pursue a degree in Entomology at Mizzou and attained his PhD - all but dissertation (a.b.d.). He worked as a Research Entomologist at Monsanto and spent his late career days enriching young minds as a substitute teacher and tutor. Francis left us and this world way too soon. He was a brilliant scientist and was always the light of the party. He never met a stranger and would never let anyone sit alone. He has friends and loved ones all over the world. He had a love for animals and an affection for children. He was well traveled and had stories of more adventures than we will ever know. He had a minor altercation with Lemmy Kilmister in London where Lemmy ended up buying Francis a beer. Over the course of a weekend, he was on a first name basis with Michael Jayston (Dr. Who Actor and Pro-Celebrity Cricket Player). He also visited and spent time with the family that is written about in All Creatures Great And Small at the time it was being penned. He vividly recalled seeing the famous wine shelves lining the staircase. Aside from these adventures, he had a heart of gold. He helped house the homeless and hungry, as well as foster and take in numerous animals and people in need. He had a passion for science, sci-fi, nature, sports, music and his heritage. Life as we know it is forever changed without him.

Gathering of Family and Friends to be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Heligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold, MO 63010 followed by a potluck Celebration of Life at the VFW Post 4223, 215 Military Road, Lemay, MO 63125 beginning at 5:00 p.m. Should friends desire, contributions to Stray Rescue of St. Louis appreciated.
