My Dearest Larry:
My Heart Is Like a Fountain
What can I say that hasn't already been said? The numerous amount of people
who came to say goodbye and all the tears that were shed, has already said so
much about you. It showed how much you were loved and how much you will be
missed.
Your Dad and I were told what a great person and friend you were. We were told
what a good job we did raising you, because you grew up to be such a wonderful
man. We were even thanked for sharing you with them. Although you are a man,
in my heart you will always remain my baby boy.
My very soul aches from losing you and I have been left with a huge hole in my
heart. However, it isn't an empty hole, because now, my heart is like a fountain. It
bubbles over with love and pride. I used to love you to the moon and back. Now I
love you to the heavens and back. You were a gift I will treasure forever.
It is said everything happens for a reason. I imagine your work on earth was done
and you were needed for greater things. You are smart, funny, polite,
compassionate and loving. I know you will carry these traits with you on your new
journey.
One day we will reunite and just like old times, we will sit and talk for hours
catching up on things. But instead of ending our visit with a big bear hug and I
love you, I'd prefer to start that way. You will never be forgotten and will always
be a big part of me. Remember, because of you, my heart is like a fountain.
I will love you always and forever,
Larry:
We are here today to help you pack. Dad made a sheet metal case to carry things
you were fond of and will always remind us of you.
Included is your Union Local 36 pin you received when becoming a journeyman.
Dad was so proud that you followed in his footsteps and got into the trade. Your
realtor card and ink pen represent the time you spent helping people make the
biggest decision of their lives. Although we don't know the locations these jobs
took you to, we know you left small marks of yourself all around.
The baseball cap, mini movie poster and small piano are for your love of
entertainment. You enjoyed watching sports, but were a bit of a fair weather fan.
You remembered and could recite lines from movies and TV shows like no one
else. As for music, everyone knew you were the "go to guy'' if they needed the
name of a song or artist. All it took was a few short lyrics and you had the answer.
You were always styling. You loved cars, so we put in a Dodge Charger, because
you'll probably get the new car bug soon. There are probably people you didn't
see very often and they never saw you in the same car twice. You wore expensive
clothes and expensive shoes, so we've packed a couple of pieces. As a matter of
fact, you were worse than a girl when it came to your closet.
We included a few special pieces. There are family pictures. Please keep them
close to your heart as we will keep you close to ours. The Guardian Angel coin is
to look over you during the time that we can't. Last, but not least, we have
included one of your watches. It is set to the date and time of your birth, because
that is when the world became a better place for having, had you in it.
So now your bag is packed and we must say good-bye. Grandma and Grandpa are
waiting for you with open arns, something to drink and a big pot of your favorite
food, ham and cabbage. Give them our love. We wish you well on your journey
and will love you always.
