Rev. Martin D. Tipton, age 83 of Arnold, MO passed away on Tuesday, November 19th, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born to Francis and Lillian Tipton July 5th, 1936. After attending the Pentecostal Bible Institute at the young age of 15, Martin felt called to preach the gospel. He began his ministry joining the United Pentecostal Church at the age of 18 and continued to minister until he passed. Martin served in the United States Army from 1961-1967. In 1964, he married the love of his life and best friend Ruth Theissen.
Martin was known by many and has touched so many lives over his lifespan. He loved to joke and pull pranks on people. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Relationships were very important to him. He loved adventures with his family including riding rollercoasters, parasailing, bungy jumping, sledding, and snowmobiling. Everyone that met him through his life can remember at least one joke he told.
Martin will be dearly missed by many, including his wife Ruth Tipton of Arnold, MO; his children Rachel (Gary) Wolters of Fountain City, IA; Mark (Jami) Tipton of Prattville, AL; Bethany (James) Leach of Arnold, MO; Sharon (Alan) Scofield of Largo FL; 18 grandkids and 25 great grandchildren.; and many friends and many children that have called him grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Francis Tipton, his mother, Lillian Tipton; his son Gregory Tipton, 3 brothers, Frank, Donald and Gordon Tipton; 1 grandson, Terry Tipton; 1 great-grandson Ryker Tipton.
Funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, November 23rd at Peace Tabernacle, Hillsboro, MO with Rev. David DeTar officiating. Visitation will be at 4:00p-8:00p on Friday, November 22nd, also at Peace Tabernacle.
