Mary Jo Ann Fox, age 94, of Marietta, Georgia (Formerly of Arnold, Missouri) died peacefully on September 24, 2023. She was born in Evansville, Indiana in 1928 to Robert and Elizabeth Riffert and lived there until she was in the fourth grade and then moved to Charleston, Illinois. Jo Ann attended Charleston High School graduating in 1946. Jo Ann married the love of her life, Ralph William Fox on November 27, 1947. They had four children James Ralph, Mary Katherine, Beverly Ann and Frederick Joseph.
She was a loving woman who cherished her family and God. She was actively involved in Church and loved hearing the preaching of the Lord. Jo Ann focused on raising her children before working outside of the home. She worked briefly at Famous-Barr before becoming a cook/cashier at Fox Elementary/Jr High where she retired after many years of service. Jo Ann enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises and sightseeing excursions with her friends and church group. She enjoyed camping, cooking, reading, playing cards, scrap booking, and had a love for watching all of “her” birds and squirrels. You could always find her with a smile on her face and count on her for encouraging words.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, daughters Mary Kay and Beverly Ann and is survived by hers sons James Ralph (Betty) and Frederick Joseph (Julie), grandchildren Amy, Jeff, Brian, Molly, Kathy, Jared, ten great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and sister, Judy Ruppel.
A visitation for Mary Jo Ann Fox will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd, Arnold, MO 63010. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 2, 2023 at 9:00 AM, at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125.
