Verlon Murrell "Burr" Thurman, 93, of Imperial, Missouri passed away June 27, 2025 at Woodlands of Arnold. He is survived by sons Joseph (Susie) Thurman and James Thurman, grandchildren Jeffrey Thurman and Laura (Aaron) McAntire, and great grandchildren Millie McAntire and Augie McAntire. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Joan Thurman, who passed in January, his parents Fenton and Leona Thurman, his brother Burdette (Faith still survives)) and sister Alma also survived by nieces, nephews and loving family members.
"Burr" started in the car business in Imperial after returning with his wife and infant son from military service at Fort Leonard Wood during the Korean conflict. Always good for a joke, he was genuinely a nice person and a kind soul. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation for Burr will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd, Arnold, MO 63010. Funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, July 17, 2025,11:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to in Burr's Honor to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
