Walter Franklin Paschang, age 89, of Imperial, MO passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on October 19, 1933, in Martinsburg, MO in Audrain County to Edmund Henry & Adeline (Sandbothe) Paschang. He grew up on a farm with four brothers and two sisters.
Walter followed his older brothers into the service when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950. He served his country honorably during the Korean War from 1950 to 1956 as a Teleman performing numerous communications duties on the USS Poconos off the coast of Norfolk, VA.
In February, 1958 he married Glenarva (Seidel) Paschang and moved from Columbia, MO to Chillicothe, MO to raise their family. He worked at Donaldson Company for almost 30 years where he retired in 1992. After retirement they moved to Imperial, MO to be closer to his five grandchildren where he lived another 30 years.
He was a loving husband and great father with a huge heart and many skills. He was a jack of all trades and could build or fix almost anything. He was athletic and enjoyed all sports including softball, bowling, golf, racing, boating, camping, water skiing, and watching The STL Cardinals and The KC Chiefs.
He is survived by his wife Glenarva (Seidel) of the home, daughter Martha Paschang of O’Fallon, MO, daughter Lisa (Jaime) Klipsch of St. Louis, and a son, John (Robin Kretzer) Paschang of Arnold, MO, grandchildren, Jack Klipsch, Andrea Klipsch, Cassie (Zak Fox) Paschang, Allie Paschang, Marissa Paschang, and one great grandchild, Zane Fox, his sister Joan Wright of Centralia, MO along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Ronald, Chester, Alan, and Robert Paschang and a sister, Patricia Foster.
Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday October 2, 2023, 1:00 pm at the Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home 1081 Jeffco Blvd. Arnold, MO 63010 with visitation 12:00 noon until time of service. Interment National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, MO.
