Barbara lived a full and joyful life centered around faith, family, and friendship. She especially cherished time spent with her family and friends—never missing an opportunity to support her grandchildren at their sporting events, cheering them on with pride and love. Her warmth, kindness, and laughter touched everyone who knew her.
A lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland, Barbara shared her beautiful voice as part of the church choir and especially loved attending the Saturday evening services that became a cherished part of her week. Her faith was her steady foundation throughout her life.
Barbara also had a special love for her dogs, who brought her comfort, joy, and companionship over the years.
She is survived by her children, Kim (Dan) Martincin and Bryan (Terri) Townsend; grandchildren, Scott (Kelly), Jake (Courtney), Jennifer (Meredith) and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Nick, Mackenzie, Brock, Kendyll, Remington and Henry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary Harned, and by her beloved husband of 31 years, Donald Townsend, who passed away in 1990. Barbara and Donald were married on February 7, 1959, and together built a loving home filled with faith, laughter, and devotion.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Harter Family Funeral Home, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Kevin McClain.
