Eugene was a 1948 graduate of McComb High School and following graduation he joined the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Panama. Upon his discharge, he entered Findlay College where he met and married Darlene Engle on June 8, 1958. After graduation, he taught math for two years. He then became a Technical Service Engineer for Gorman-Rupp Pump Company in Mansfield, Ohio where he worked for 28 years.
Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with people. He was a member of the Hayesville Lions Club, the Jeromesville Legion, Mansfield Power Squadron, Ashland Pheasants Forever and Christ United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Darlene Neiderhiser; his daughter, Karen Neiderhiser; his son, David (Carol) Neiderhiser; two granddaughters, Courtney and Lexy Neiderhiser; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Dortha Neiderhiser; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gerald Bibler; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Bertha Engle; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Elmer and Betty Engle; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Freda and Melvin Maneke.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home on Wednesday. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Cemetery in North Baltimore, Ohio.
