Judy Tobias

She was preceded in death by her parents, Galen and Zelda Rohrer, and her eldest brother, Lester.

She leaves behind a loving husband, Joseph, five siblings, Mike, Kim, Karen, Bryon, and Sue; five children, Todd, Jamison, Garrett, Michael, and Anthony; and seven grandchildren.

Judy moved to Ashland at a young age and fell in love with the area. Judy spent her career as an educator serving 35 years in the Mansfield school district, teaching various elementary school grades. In 1997 she and her husband bought a turn-of-the-century farmhouse in the country and proceeded to live a lifestyle she swore she wouldn’t enjoy. In a short time, she became a competent farm girl and embraced country life, where she loved driving tractors and four-wheelers. She raised cattle, chickens, and ducks. One season, a goose imprinted on her, and Godfrey comically followed her around the farm.

After her travels, she always loved the tranquility of her massive garden, expansive flower beds, and the peace her countryside oasis provided upon return. Camping and boating at Pleasant Hill Lake were weekend favorites as she taught her children the importance of respecting nature and the joys of playing in the mud. Judy loved life, traveling, and new adventures. Her annual beach trip with her sisters was the highlight of her summers. Her passions included cooking (which she excelled at), gardening, and spending time with her grandkids and friends. Later in life, she took flying lessons and bought a candy apple red Harley Davidson. She was most at home, sitting on her farm and watching the hummingbirds and orioles while soaking in the sun. Many will miss her as she leaves a large hole in our lives. Godspeed, and may we see you again someday.

No memorial services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
