Born in Ashland, Ohio, on August 8, 1943, Marty was the daughter of Milo and Margaret (Bartley) Truex, who preceded her in death.
On August 17, 1963, she married C. Glen Weaver of New Paris, Indiana. They shared more than 47 years of marriage before Glen preceded her in death on January 8, 2011.
Marty graduated from Ashland High School in 1961. She dedicated many years to caring for others through her work in various nursing roles at Samaritan Hospital. She later worked in the Activities Department at Brethren Care Village, where she retired in January 2013.
She volunteered with hospice for many years playing the piano while her father played saw.
Following her retirement, Marty moved to Good Shepherd Villa, where she remained actively involved in community life. She enjoyed helping plan activities and entertainment programs, extending her caring spirit to friends and neighbors who became like family.
A faithful member of Garber Brethren Church, Marty served as the church pianist for more than 30 years. She also served as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, member of the official board, and was actively involved in the Missionary Society for many years.
Marty found great joy in playing the piano, playing games, and, most of all, spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her servant's heart, her steadfast faith, and the love she shared with those around her.
Like her husband, she also would like you to know there is nothing more important in your life than giving your heart to Jesus and living for Him.
She is survived by her children, Beth (Gary) Morris of Elkhart, Indiana; Brenda (Ray) Zahniser of Ashland; and Michael (Kim) Weaver of Ashland; thirteen grandchildren: Amberly (Brian Sampers) Leer, Casandra (Matthew) Cooper, Felecia Kershner, Joseph Kershner, Faith Kershner, Travis Weaver, Christopher (Bryan) Dwiggins, Amber Kohler, Amie Craft, Devin Weaver, and Joseph Stage; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Janet (Terry) Piatt of Wooster; best friend, Bobbie Gallagher; honorary family, Christy Kuzawa, Jarvis Wahl and Martha Danner; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, Marty was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Truex; sister-in-law, Nancy Truex; and grandson-in-law, Thomas Leer.
Family and friends will gather for visitation at Five Stones Church (Garber Brethren), 163 Sherman Avenue, Ashland, Ohio on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Five Stones Church.
