She was born August 10, 1945, in Mansfield to Clifton and Dorothy Cornell. Shirley worked at the Gazebo, Hallmark Cafeteria and retired from the Mansfield County Club. She was a resident of Mansfield until coming to live with her nephew, Mike Cornell, and his family in 2005.
Shirley was an avid sports fan, but nothing brought a smile to her face faster than her special buddies, her great nieces and nephews. When they were playing baseball, she lit up and would cheer them on louder than anyone else. There was no doubt that she loved her family, but her special buddies were her shining glories!
Shirley will be missed by her nephews, Mike (Lisa) Cornell, and Edward Cornell of Jeromesville, and Jason (Sandy) Cornell of Ashland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Dorothy Cornell; and her brother, Irvin Cornell.
We would like to invite friends and family to share memories and to also wear your favorite OSU, Browns, or Indians gear. Friends may visit Friday, January 31, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. A funeral service will follow officiated by Pastor Joel Zook. Shirley will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Union Cemetery, Perrysville. Memorial Contributions may be made to Southview Grace Brethren Church 810 Katherine Avenue, Ashland.
