Ray was preceded in death by his father, Albert Cash; mother, Elizabeth Cash; and sister, Judy Cash Lambert Moody.
Ray, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion. He was born in Staunton, Virginia, on October 18, 1943. He moved from Harrisonburg to Richmond in 1969 and, with the help of many, built a home in Bumpass in 1974 to raise his family. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, he spent many years as a Sunday School teacher and sharing the gospel. With a natural gift for making friends, bringing joy and laughter wherever he went, and hugging all the ladies, he never met a stranger and left a lasting impact on everyone he knew.
Ray built a career with Ukrops, where he worked for over 25 years before retiring. He was also a talented taxidermist throughout the years. A man of integrity, he stood firm in his beliefs, living a life defined by faith, hard work, dedication, and unshaken loyalty to those he loved. He devoted himself to giving his children the best life, rarely worrying about his own needs. A selfless man whose impact will be forever felt by those who loved him, his ability to sacrifice, support, forgive, and love leaves an unfilled gap in the hearts of his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Cash; children, Tammy Adams (Butch), Cindy Whitby (Larry), Lisa Thacker, Shannon, Mike (Amanda), and Missy Painting (Troy); 22 Grandchildren; 28 Great-Grandchildren; brothers, Gary Cash and Curtis Cash (Beth); and sister Kathy Beatty.

A funeral service will occur Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM, 14573 Scotchtown Rd, Montpelier, VA 23192. Interment will follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Rd, Hanover, VA 23069.
